Daisy was a Bernese Mountain Dog - Blue Tick Coon Hound mix. She died at the age of 11 of an anti-immune disease. I got her when I was two years old. She was a puppy when my sister was born. We buried her on a hill next to our house.
Here is a poem about Daisy that I wrote:
Once there was a tiny puppy born,
She bit a lot and played,
Part Burmese Mountain dog,
Part Blue Tick Coon Hound.
Through nibbling and biting came affection,
Daisy loved people,
She was the size of a Mountain dog,
But a hound she resembled.
Her biting ceased as she grew older,
Daisy was beautiful,
Velvetine ears,
A spotted coat.
Food was what she loved,
A new puppy came,
And they became friends,
Daisy treed two racoons in separate trees.
As Daisy aged and became a senior,
Thyroid problems did develop,
Next an anti-immune disease,
A few more months left to live,
And finally on a sunny February day,
Under a Ponderosa Pine my dog did lie,
And died at the ripe old age of 11.
